Alaine Carpenter


is just such a librarian. She has blessed me beyond measure, as a reader, a writer, and a friend. She has recommended books and given me books. She has tirelessly recommended my books to others. When I thought my writing career might really be over and didn’t know what in the world to do, I went to see Alaine. She fed me good food, information, encouragement, and reassurance. I will never forget that day as long as I live. (Also, she laughs easily—I love this quality in a person!) In the simplest terms, I love Alaine.

So, it is with great pleasure that I name Alaine Carpenter the very first Superstar Librarian of my little online world. On behalf of every student whose life she has changed, and on my own behalf, I say to her: thank you . . .  times infinity.
