Every Wednesday for a year now, these girls have gathered with each other and me, for dinner and church. Over dinner, we share our highs and lows of the week, as well as what’s on our minds and hearts. This is where we work it all out. This is where we gather advice, perspective, support and love. These are “my girls” and I am their “TOM”—an acronym for “The Other Mother”—if there’s a higher honor than being called “Tom” and “Mom”, I don’t know it.
One of our Wednesday girls is moving away this summer (sniff sniff),
so this week, we planned one last dinner in her honor, at a nearby marina, and filled my husband’s boat with teenage girls.
Giggling…
General happiness…
Titanic moments…
Painted toes…
And a painted sunset…
And at the end of the day, my heart was full. Thank you, Wednesday family. And thanks to my extremely patient husband, who is almost always surrounded by girls!—except on the golf course—he plays A LOT of golf.
